Glossary – Silicon (Si)
- An atom that has similar properties to carbon.
- Forms silica molecules (silicon dioxide – SiO2, a.k.a. sand), when combined with oxygen.
- Silicon could theoretically be used by lifeforms as an alternative building block to carbon.
